As many of you know Jay and I enjoy exploring New Hampshire and love sharing the special places we find with you all via video or photos.

After meeting customers in our Portsmouth office on Maplewood Ave, we decided to explore and ventured around Portsmouth for an impromptu photo walk.

Portsmouth is an awesome city to explore and a photographers delight… even wanna be photographers like us find it amazing and mesmerizing. Our timing was perfect, after a quick bite to eat we walked down to the Strawberry Bank area and took photos and videos of the Memorial Bridge and then walked around and admired all the old historic buildings until we got to the docks by the Sheraton Hotel where we caught the setting sun gently kissing some tug boats and buildings. It was picture perfect!

Home sales in Portsmouth New Hampshire were up close to 8% over 2010 home sales. Prices were up a whopping 12.8% far exceeding the statewide averages. It also took 10 days less on average to sell a home in 2011 as compared to 2010.  Portsmouth is a desirable city to live in and one that has maintained its value both in terms of pricing and lifestyle.

Rye NH Real Estate Market Report 2010 vs 2011

Rye NH is one of those bedroom communities where if you blink you would miss the town center. But, if you were to drive along the coast you will never forget the dramatic views of the rocky shoreline or the majestic view of the Isles of Shoals as it sits awaiting your visit about 10 miles off shore.

Driving along coastal route 1A in Rye you can see some of the most prettiest views you will see along the east coast. Monika and I usually try to make a drive along the coast at least once a month during the winter and twice to three times during the warm summer months. It can be really beautiful as you pull off to some of the vista view points on a warm summer breezy evening and sit and watch the waves crash along the jagged rocks along the coastline. The smell of the salt air and low tide brings a whole new meaning to way life should be. You have to love the ocean to know what I mean.

Rye NH Real Estate Market

As we finished 2011 we reflect back on the home sales for Rye and we compare them to the home sales of 2010. Home sales in 2011 were up 4% over home sales in 2010. But, home sale prices were down 12.5% from 2010 to 2011. Days on the market were down 6% which is a good thing for sellers. With prices down and interest rates at historic lows we look for another great selling season in southern New Hampshire.

Jay and I drove to Portsmouth after he finished marching in the Hampton NH Christmas parade with the Prudential Verani float. We wanted to see the annual lighting of the Portsmouth Town Christmas Tree and spend some time walking around downtown.  It was awesome albeit a little on the chilly side, to see so much holiday spirit and we thoroughly enjoyed listening to a band play Christmas music and hear people in the crowd sing along.  As we stood and watched the tree light up you could just feel the excitement in the air and it was easy to get caught up in the joyous mood of the crowd.

I hope my video gives you a little feel for what it was like.

New Hampshire’s Glorious Fall Season

Fall is a very special time of year for New Hampshire

While I am a major summer lover, fall has always been very special to me. Not only do we often have summer type weather, that lasts well into the fall season but it’s also a very visually beautiful time of year.  From our amazing New Hampshire coastline to our awesome White Mountains and the many country roads in between our scenic drives are sure to amaze you with all their glorious fall colors.

The Seacoast Coastal Byway

The Seacoast Area Coastal Byway is an awesome ride along route 1A to Portsmouth NH with dramatic ocean views and then there is the The American Independence Byway a 21 mile ride that winds it’s way along Exeter NH through Hampton NH and of course one of our most famous rides…  The “Kanc” Kancamagus Scenic Byway which is an all time favorite.
