Chester NH ~ Scarecrows galore 2010

Driving through Chester the other day I noticed some pretty interesting looking yard decorations. Chester residents and businesses, especially those along the main roads always seem to go all out with holiday decorations. They have an annual Holiday door contest and now for the first time they are having a Scarecrow Contest to benefit the Chester Historical Society. I couldn’t help but to stop and snap a few pictures but I’m sure I missed a few…so if you’re a Chester resident or business owner that I missed I would love it if you sent me  a picture of you’re scarecrow to add here. Wintry Wonderland at Charmingfare in Candia NH

Winter in NHI’m not sure if this is really the last weekend that Charmingfare Farm in Candia New Hampshire will offer their horse drawn sleigh rides like their website claims. But in case it is, you should really consider doing it. It’s been snowing all day (what else is new??) and I’m sure all this fresh snow will make the sleigh ride all the more special. Jay and I did it a few years ago and had a blast. So if you’re looking for a fun thing to do this weekend head on out to Candia and enjoy a great time at Charmingfare Farm. If you’re looking for something a bit faster and louder head on up to Ossipee NH for their second annual SnoCross racing action. They are offering two full days to please both racers and spectators alike. Watch as racers twist and turn, jump and bump over hills and around turns all on a 1/3 mile track. Enjoy good foods from area vendors and just plain enjoy the beautiful Ossipee area! Hampstead NH versus Home Owners

Hampstead, New Hampshire Lake front property owners win a giant battle against the town.

In case you missed this piece of news, a yearlong battle regarding year round status was recently decided at the Rockingham County Superior Court. The case involved a local couple trying to sell their shore front properties only to discover that the town of Hampstead had declared the properties as “seasonal”. Seasonal, even though the tax assessment card, long used by REALTORS and residents alike, to help determine the status of a property made no reference to being seasonal. As a REALTOR one of the first things we do when taking a listing or doing a CMA (comparative market analysis) is to go to the town and pull the card. [Read more...]
