A Pond View…

Tea timeI was pretty unhappy when I found out that The Pond View restaurant in Kingston New Hampshire had closed. I used to like going there, not so much for the food but for the ambiance. The table settings, where everything was different and unmatched yet somehow all belonged, was a treat to see. The Gazebo overlooking the pond and the lounge that was like taking a trip through Movie land.

I was sad to see the place change and eventually go out of business, not to mention that last Christmas someone there sold my son a gift certificate. One that he gave to Jay and me for our Christmas gift…only to end up being no good. I figured they must have needed the money as they surely had to know they would be closing soon. My fault…we probably should have used it right a way. Oh well!

The good news is that the Pond View was bought by another local restaurant owner, Rick Korn who along with his wife, own and operate Rick’s Cafe and Grill on Maine Street. They plan to re-open as Rick’s Pond View and I for one can’t wait to see what they do with it. Rick’s Cafe is known to have good food so I bet it will be a good mix for the lovely historic building on Rt 125 in Kingston.

We had a tea place across from my office that sounded like this….but they also closed. Hopefully the new owner will have something equally charming besides the good food

I hope you’re right. I will check it out once it opens.
Maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised. I haven’t had the heart to tell my son about the gift certificate, he doesn’t read my Blog so my secret is safe.

Does anyone know if Rick has opened up the restaurant yet? I called the other day to see if the phone was answered and it was answered “Rick’s Pond View” but I just said I had the wrong number. Guess I should have just asked!!! Oh well…

Last time I drove by it still had a sign in front saying Opening Soon. That was a few weeks ago. I would think it would open pretty soon. Can’t wait to see what changes he’s made. I’m wicket bummed about my gift certificate though.

for anyone who has unused gift certificates from the “old” Pond View, the message on the answering maching at Rick’s is that they WILL HONOR GIFT CERTIFICATES FROM THE OLD OWNERS!!!

oh – one last comment (although I hope someone goes and comments on the place/food).
The Pond View will be open for Christmas Eve Dinner!!! Yayyyyy. We’ve been going there for years on Xmas eve and was so happy when they said they’d be open.

Jenn…Thanks so much for the update. We’ve been at Convention and just got home today. Maybe I can get my honey to take me this weekend.

I will comment and post when I go…
