Yesterday Jay’s 24 year old nephew was killed by a 22 year old alleged drunk driver. Sean survived two tours in Iraq only to be killed at home by an alleged drunk driver! Sean had everything to live for and now he is gone. He loved his job as a Hopkinton New Hampshire police officer and was a just an all around nice guy. He was killed in a hit-and-run crash on his way home from work early Thursday morning. We will miss him. http://wbztv.com/local/newhampshire/police.officer.killed.2.795063.html

Monika I am so sorry to hear this news. I will never be able to understand how someone could hit someone and just continue on with life like nothing ever happened. This is just so sad.
Thanks Bill. This is just a nightmare. The kid who killed him was out of his mind. Had to be! I mean he left his car behind…of should I say his parents car behind. It’s just a nightmare.
Thanks for stopping by Bill.
Hi Monika – how sad this whole thing is. I left a note on Jay’s blog yesterday, and mentioned that I’d heard a story on this on Boston’s Channel 5 news yesterday morning.
So sorry about that sad loss…..
Hi Ann,
It is very sad and Sean’s family is just devastated. The reality has not yet sunk in. You know how hard that part is…
Moni- My Condolences to all of you, and Sean’s Family…..how sad for everyone as now 2 young lives are lost…..over alleged drunk driving. Sad indeed…….
How awful for your family and he was so young. When I read the news report in your link, I noticed that the drunk driver has a “long criminal record”. How often we read things like that when there is a bad situation and we wonder about our court system.
Sean’s death is such a tragedy. As a resident of Hopkinton, we are so deeply hurt by his loss. Our thoughts are with all of you.
Monique and Jay – My heart goes out to you both young Sean’s family. This is a terrible tragedy and my prayers go out to you all. I hope over time you can heal from this hugh loss.

Monika – I am so sorry that something this tragic has to happen to your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
And the Offord baby….equally tragic.
Sorry, grandmother.
Yes, she was 75 years old and blinded by the sun…it was tragic and very long ago. She died knowing that she caused the baby’s death and that she could not make the pain go away. She cried every night as she tried to go to sleep. She cried for the baby…not for herself. It was very tragic without a doubt.
