Winter Roof Safety

We’ve had a record amount of snow and as a result many of our roofs need to be shoveled off. There has been a few roof collapses due to the weight of the snow and with rain expected tomorrow…there will probably be more.

Please be aware of safety especially if you’re climbing a ladder or walking on your roof. Make sure you’re not alone out there, have someone near by in case you need help or simply to hold the ladder steady.

Dress warm and drink plenty of water …the snow is heavy even if your shoving it off a roof. If you’re not in good physical condition don’t even try doing it your self! Get someone to help you…nobody wants to spend time in the emergency room especially with Christmas a few days away.

Jay shoveled the back side of the house off this morning. We were worried about the roof above the screen porch as that is a weak point. This afternoon he’ll work on the front side.

Poor Jay spent 6.5 hours on the roof just trying to get rid of the snow.
He is a pretty tired guy tonight. I told him since real estate is slow I could hire him out as a roof snow shoveler off guy…he didn’t think I was funny.
    Thing was… I wasn’t kidding!

Boy, that’s a lot of snow to have built up on that roof. I saw those icicles, too….scary!

We have had way too much snow for so early in the season, that’s for sure.

    Jay, be mighty careful!!

Last year we had a few gas station roofs cave in due to snow. I heard that the weather was supposed to warm up in January. So maybe you already have the snowfall for the year :-) Merry Christmas to you and Jay, Moni
