A New Hampshire law maker has filed paperwork for a bill that would make it illegal to type a text message and type on a laptop computer while driving your car. When I read this I immediately had to agree and wondered what took so long. Have you ever tried to text while driving? I really hate to admit it but I have and it is not something that anyone should do. No matter how well you can work your thumbs !
I think it’s bad enough that we routinely talk on the phone while driving and even read e-mails downloaded to a handheld. How can you really concentrate on driving and the potential road hazards when your eyes are elsewhere…never mind your mind being elsewhere! I’ll be curious to see what happens with this bill…it was filed by Nashua Democrat David Campbell.

I think it is extremely dangerous to text or read email while driving.

Phoenix recently passed a “no texting while driving” law. Sadly it was prompted by the death of two people — an 18 year old girl was texting when she crossed the center line, killing herself and the other driver…

Jay T. Thanks so much for commenting. We’ve had some real close calls regarding driving while texting but no fatalities that I know of yet. But then I don’t think we’d really know for sure. I sure hope this passes.

You just have to wonder about the people who actually do this while driving! I can’t imagine doing that, but I’ve seen people reading newspapers, putting on makeup, eating food with forks and spoons, and more, so I guess I shouldn’t be all that surprised to know there are those who text and type on computers while driving.

Taking multi-tasking to a new level. I have seen people putting on make-up and thought to myself…an accident waiting to happen. Problem is when you kill someone it is too late.

I love texting, but I am glade that this was passed. I hope they do it in Minnesota.

Especially after the reports that a train conductor may have been texting before an accident recently.
I have a Treo…so my e-mail and text messages are so tempting!
