Hampstead NH Snow Blanket

Southern NH and the Seacoast Area gets  a snow blanket

Just when we thought winter was over with ,we get hit with a surprise snow storm.  Southern NH and the Seacoast Area gets a snow blanket! Hampstead NH by Monika McGillicuddy

I really can’t complain as we’ve had a pretty mild winter and the weather people did warn us about the impending  bad weather.  I think though, that we thought we might just get a few inches, instead in Hampstead NH we got about 11 inches.  Thankfully it will melt fast and the good thing is our Ski areas and Mountains are loving this stuff!

Of course I took a few videos of the snow.

Hampstead, NH Real Estate Market Report January 2011 vs Jan 2012

Hampstead Town Hall

Hampstead Town Hall

We are now a month and 3 weeks into 2012 and it looks like single family existing residential home sales for 2012 are up 200% over January 2011. Yeah the percentage sounds like a lot but you must realize only one house in Hampstead closed in January of 2011 compared to 3 in January 2012.

Inventory is down 15.7 % from January 2011 vs 2012. There were 38 homes for sale in January of 2011 vs 32 in 2012.

Pending sales in 2011 were 9 as compared to 3 in 2012 that is down 66.6% and should make home sales down in future months.

New listings that have come on the market in January of 2011 vs 2012 is virtually the same. Both years have seen 7 homes entering the market.

Dollar wise we are seeing home prices still declining. In January of 2011 the average home that was on the market was priced at $277,000 as compared to $265,000 in 2012. That is a decrease of 4.3%. With only one home selling in 2011 for $322,000 and 3 homes in 2012 which their average was $203,000.

So, it looks like the less expensive homes are currently selling and the less expensive homes are being listed in Hampstead so far this year. Time will tell to see if the more expensive homes enter and sell in this market.

This report does not include new homes, mobile homes, land and condominiums for sale.

Hampstead New Hampshire Life Style and Real Estate for sale

Hampstead NHHampstead New Hampshire Lifestyle and  Real Estate for sale

As most of you know Jay and I live in the small town of Hampstead NH.  Hampstead is one of those towns that has a little bit of everything. Located just 15 minutes off of both I 93 and 495 plus 25 minutes from Rte 95 makes Hampstead an ideal commuters location.  Boston Ma and Concord NH are both under an hour away and the Maine border is  about 50 minutes away.  Hampstead has shopping, spas, fine dining and gyms all while still maintaining that small town feel. Main Street is dotted with antique style homes and some new construction as well.  There are many sub divisions, lovely waterfront homes and condo complexes.   Jay and I enjoy visiting the beach and love the fact the within 30 minutes we can be there or a few hours north of us is the gorgeous White Mountains of NH, we have lovely lakes and lots of open space to explore and we just love the outdoors, walking, camping, biking and just enjoying our community and everything living in southern NH and the Seacoast area offers.

Hampstead NH | Auction to Benefit Local Artist Bobbie Mabry

Bobby MabryBean Towne Coffee House and the Wine Steward join forces to help a local elderly woman in need

Bean Town Coffee House and Cafe is holding a very special event on Saturday, January 14 at 4pm.  The auction will benefit a local artist in need of our help! Let’s all keep the season of giving alive by
attending this special event. The silent auction will feature free food and drink from BeanTowne and a wine tasting from The Wine Steward.

Bobbie Mabry Needs our help

Coffee House Comes to Aid of Ailing, Elderly Artist

Plans Silent Auction to Raise Funds, Save Life’s Work

January 4, 2012 Hampstead, NH – BeanTowne Coffee House will hold a silent auction of the work of Local Artist Bobbie Mabry, 82, of Raymond, NH, on Saturday, January 14th from 4-8pm. All proceeds will be used to defray her mounting medical costs and living expenses. At Bobbie’s insistence, 10% of the proceeds will be donated to “The Smile Train”, an organization that aids children with Clef Palletes.

Now battling Parkinson’s Disease, this former New Hampshire Art Association and Copley Society Member subsists on her dwindling savings, deliveries from Meals on Wheels, and the occasional good deed of a care worker. She now lives amongst her life’s work, a dust-covered collection of over 100 paintings and drawings created in different mediums; A collection that will surely be lost if her story continues on its current path.

Kate LeBlanc, a BeanTowne Coffee House employee, became aware of Bobbie’s situation and immediately asked to meet her. Seeing the conditions and situation in which this former accomplished artist was living, Kate asked what she could do to help get her the services she needed, and keep her in her own home. Together, they decided that the most viable option was to begin selling Bobbie’s collection. A decision that the artist is not only at peace with, but also extremely happy to have come to “I always wanted my work to be enjoyed, to be shared, and to bring a stranger to another place that once existed only in my mind”, she said. “After all these years, I know it’s time for them to see the light of day again. I hope the people who end up with them on their walls will enjoy looking at them as much as I did creating them.”

A small portion of her work now hangs for sale on BeanTowne’s wall, with one large piece having already sold for $600. That sale sparked an idea amongst the staff; “Why not have a silent auction and exhibit the rest of the collection?”

“This is truly a fulfillment of the highest aspiration of our business,” said Ed Goyette, owner. “We hope to raise enough money through the sale of Bobbie’s work to enable her to remain in her home and create a more comfortable life for her going forward. Any help toward that end will be greatly appreciated.”

The silent auction will feature free food and drink from BeanTowne and other local restaurants.

BeanTowne Coffee House is a purveyor of award winning coffee, espresso and sandwiches. The store located at 201 Route 111 in Hampstead, NH. www.beantownecoffee.com
