An ugly witch & mighty good apple pie
I totally love Halloween
I love Halloween and all the silly scary decorations that go along with it. This past weekend Jay and I were up in Port Clyde Maine where we stopped at a roadside farm stand and found this witch acting as the greeter. We had fun with her and ended up buying a delicious home made apple pie and some sweet tasting tomatoes. The pie was still warm when we bought it and boy was it tasty.

If you find yourself heading to Tenants Harbor Maine stop at Harborside Market and Garden on port Clyde Road and check out their home made pies. Don’t let the ugly witch scare you off the pie was might good! Yummy!

Maritime Festival at the beach

Salisbury Beach Maritime Festival
Jay and I took a ride over to Salisbury Beach to check out the 2nd annual Maritime Festival being held at the State Reservation. We had watched the gang plank/docking being built while we were camping at the beach a few weeks ago and I thought seeing the ships would be fun.
There will be a band performing and fireworks plus being able to tour the ships sounded like a neat way to spend the day or weekend. Saturday ended up being the first sunny day in god knows how long so the roads to the beach were congested with traffic. When we arrived at little after 11 a.m. the parking lots at the reservation were pretty much full but I really think most of the people were down at beach and not visiting the Tall Ships. At least not at the time we were there.

There were a few vendors set up selling all sorts of stuff and lots of food available. The food was of the typical beach fare and all priced a little high in my opinion. I saw a lot of families and small crowds of people waiting to walk onto the ships but over all, I expected more people.
The Economy hurts
Maybe the high price of parking kept some people away, $9.00 to park in the Reservation plus a small fee to get onto the ships and
the cost of food might make some think twice in this economy. Granted the parking facilities are good with plenty of rest rooms and some concession stands but still $9.00 is pricey even if you spend the day at the beach. I’m a fan of Salisbury Beach and love the fact that it’s gone through revitalization that seems to be successful so I’ll pay the $9.00 and the high cost of food to take part in something special.
As it was, Jay and I walked around, then sat on the wall and watched the action. After we filled our bellies we ventured down to the beach where it was totally packed with beach bodies all over the place! Scoping out your own spot on the sand was difficult.
If I had little kids it would have been a total blast and I would recommend to anyone looking to do something different to visit the Maritime Festival. Sunday July 26th is the last day… so grab the camera and head over tomorrow.

There were 16 homes sold at an average price of $ 314, 244 with a median price of $317,000 . Their average days on market has been 147 days and median days on market are 129. Their price per square foot has averaged $127.00
with a median price per square foot as $118.00.
Jan 1, 2009 through April 30, 2009
There were 23 homes sold at an average price of $261,813 with a median price of $254,500. Their average days on market has been 99 days and median days on market are 67. Their price per square foot has averaged $121.00
with a median price per square foot as $125.00.
Sales in Hampstead are up 69.5 % over the same time frame from last year. Their average prices have declined 17% while days on market have shrunk by 33%.
These statistics show us that the market has picked up this spring while home prices are still declining. It is also taking less time to sell your home as compared to last year. With these prices we should see more sales from May June July and August of this year compared to last year.

Hampstead New Hampshire Sales for January 2009

Well Hampstead, NH has doubled it’s sales from last year and I am sure there will be a couple more sales posted Monday or Tuesday as firms have 48 hours to post their sales from the time the property closes.
Days on market tell the big story, if your home is priced to sell it will sell quickly. If three months is quick. I would say it is compared to the same time last year.
Prices on average are down as well along with price per square foot.
