Odiorne Point State Park Rye New HampshireWe love living and working in Southern NH and the Seacoast area and are often asked by people moving into the area to recommend places that we enjoy. Odiorne Point in Rye NH has always been on top of our very long list.
With 330 +/- acres to explore and enjoy Odiorne Point is a very popular state park and one the largest undeveloped stretch of shoreline in NH.
Jay and I have been visiting Odiorne Point for years, we’ve biked to it and walked all around the park. We’ve kayaked out at Seavey Creek and beached ourselves on a sandy stretch of beach at Odiorne Point to enjoy a picnic and the amazing views. It’s a wonderful place to spend a few hours or a whole day. If you’re looking to just veg out by the shore or you want to “reserve” space for an event you will love it here. With sheltered tide pools, exposed open rocky shore and a pebble beach plus picnic tables, playground, trails and even a Science Center to explore what is there not to love!

If you’re a regular reader of the blog then you know that Jay and I are water babies, we love nothing better than exploring and spending time along the coast of New Hampshire. Or any coast for that matter.
We’re also amateur photographers and I love shooting videos. We have shown off New Castle before and reserve the right to show it off again in the future but for today just a short video to share with you all!

Fort Constitution New Castle New Hampshire
Fort Constitution is a historical site located in New Castle NH and is open to the public. The fort is rich in history, most notably for back in December of 1774, when Paul Revere rode to Portsmouth from Boston to warn the colonists of the British Governments plans to reinforce what was then known as Fort William and Mary.
The colonists ended up raiding the fort and successfully took all or most of the supplies. Many people actually think that this was one of the first battles of the American Revolution. After the Revolutionary War the fort became known as Fort Constitution and today offers free self guided tours. The location is perfect with the Piscataqua River on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. 
It was bitterly cold and windy out the day we visited and not hard for us to imagine what life was like for those early colonists. The Fort itself is in ruins but you can still see and explore the remains of the fort and at set times you can tour Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse. When arriving just be sure you follow the “blue” line to do the self guided tour as this is an active coast guard station with many “off Limit” sections. I hope the two videos that I shot give you an idea what this historical fort is like and someday you get to enjoy it in person.

Salem NH Real Estate and Lifestyle
Post #2 – This post is Part of the 21 Posts in 21 Days Challenge – I know I can do it)
I grew up in Salem NH or at least I should say I spent most of my informative years in Salem. My mom and dad moved us to North Salem back in the early sixties and the town sure has changed dramatically since then. I remember driving up route 28 in my dad’s VW Bug from Everett Ma. every weekend while my dad was building our house. 
Back in the day we never heard a car drive by and could even play in the street if we wanted to. There was a little store in North Salem, Palmer s Store, that sold penny candy and we often walked the mile to the store by ourselves so that we could indulge our sweet tooth without mom’s watchful eye on us.
Life Was Simple Back Then
Life was simple back then and today life in Salem is far different. But one thing remains the same… Salem still offers a wide variety of real estate, is an excellent commuting location and is a town or some say city that has a lot of everything – from restaurants, malls, function halls, fast food and amusements parks. Because of this huge commercial base Salem also has a relatively low tax rate which helps make living in Salem so affordable.
