The Hampstead public library is hosting an exhibit of local artists and one of them happens to be @StarrGazr, a Twitter friend whose real life name is Tracy Lee Carroll. I actually found out about the exhibit via Twitter. That just shows you the power of Social Media! Since I live and work in Hampstead you would expect that I would have found out about the show via some other more traditional venue.

I stopped by the library to take a few pictures of the exhibit and Wow was I impressed! If you have a chance visit the second floor of the library and check out the wonderful photography of the artists.  I took a few pictures of the exhibit but due to bad lighting and my lack of camera ability my pictures  did not come out good. Do yourself a favor and stop by the library and really enjoy the creative work of the artists. It always amazes me what other people see and capture through their camera lens, especially when I can look at the same thing and not see it that way. There are some gorgeous works of art hanging on the walls of our little town library.

The artist are holding a reception on May 16th. You can meet and talk with them and maybe even find out some trade  secrets.  Sadly, Jay and I will be in DC attending the REALTOR midyear meetings so we won’t be there.

The photographic artists whose work will be on exhibit in the library’s second floor meeting room from Monday, May 4th, until Saturday, June 20th, will host a reception on Saturday, May 16th, from 11AM to 2PM.  Everyone who would like to meet the artists is invited to drop in during those hours to see the exhibit and chat with any or all of the artists.  Tracy Lee Carroll, Ed Karjala and Peter Broom welcome friends, both old and new, to join them at this reception and at their joint display.

Tracy Lee Carroll

Nurtured in a family of artists, Tracy Lee Carroll had the pleasure of growing up in a creative atmosphere. Although she has dabbled in many pallets and is a professional graphic designer, photography is the one craft that continues to have an influence in her life. Combining her love of travel with her art, Tracy Lee seeks to share the beauty she sees in the world. Her works have been published throughout the world in varied formats including books, newspapers, magazines, videos, CDs, brochures and websites. She has also been hired as a press photographer for NH Public Radio covering the 2008 presidential elections. Ed Karjala
Ed is a part-time photographer based in Chester, NH.  He balances a technology career with family time and a passion for nature and landscape photography.  Fascinated with photography from an early age, he learned the basics as a teenager, shooting film cameras and working in the dark room.  Today he primarily works in a digital medium, but the early training and experience with film is always a part of his approach.  His work is for sale in local establishments, including “The Baker’s Peel” in Exeter, NH and “Apotheca Flowers & Tea Chest” in Goffstown, NH.  He has been published by Life Magazine, Creative Review Magazine, and Maine’s Board of Tourism’s website, visitmaine.com; he is also a frequent contributor to New Hampshire Public Radio’s website, nhpr.org and has both commercial and private clients.  www.edkarjala.com

Peter Broom
It all started back in 1987, when Peter bought his first camera, a Canon AE-1, to document his sport fishing adventures while stationed in Australia’s North West Cape. Since retiring from the US Navy Seabees and a couple of Digital SLR’s later, Peter can be found out in the woods and lakes of New Hampshire capturing what Mother Earth has to offer.  As art runs in his family for several generations, it was natural for him to pick up a camera to express himself and nature provides the perfect opportunity to do so.  Peter tries to model his photography after the quote “Lose yourself in Nature, and find Peace.”  Peter hopes that what he has captured in print will inspire others to look for the beauty and tranquility that lays just beyond the blacktop. His work has been sold to CD Labels, Government Agencies, for personal use as far as Canada and France, and is also available at local stores.  Having only entered in one photo competition, Peter was honored with winning Best in Show. http://peterbroom.com
