Portsmouth NH a great city to live in

Portsmouth NH a great city to live in and to play in

If you live anywhere in southern New Hampshire you will find yourself not too far from one of the most beautiful cities in New England, Portsmouth.

Yesterday my husband and I took a ride out to the coast and visited beautiful downtown Portsmouth, a waterfront city that boasts plenty of shops, restaurants and hotels along with some great companies that make this city by the sea thrive.

We parked our car at our real estate office, Prudential Verani’s Portsmouth office on Maplewood Ave and from that location we walked all around the waterfront as we made our way out to Peirce Island in time to see the Tall Ships Boat Parade that was scheduled for 1 pm.  The Tall Ships visit Portsmouth every year and  it’s always a pretty big event. This year the Portsmouth Tall Ships Festival is early which makes for a fun filled Memorial Day weekend and what better place to kick off summer than in Portsmouth NH a jewel by the sea.

The three day event has something to offer everyone, you can visit the Tall Ships on the state pier and walk around and enjoy the lovely flowers in Prescott Park. You can also visit the  Strawbery Banke Museum and enjoy some of the beast seafood around or of course you can go shopping. You’ll find the downtown area full of unique shops and restaurants to fill every need.

Welcome to Portsmouth NH, you’re going to love it here!

Portsmouth NH Tall Ships Festival

The Tall Ships Festival is coming to Portsmouth

They’re arriving early this year so if you want to see them head on up to Portsmouth this weekend. The festival will be on Memorial Day Weekend due to  scheduling issues. Last year, the Tall Ships Festival in Portsmouth was held August 7-9, 2009 and Jay and I missed it because we were in Bar Harbor Maine that week.

Hope to see you there!

From the NH Tour Guide. com

Not only has the date changed this year, but so has the location and the size of the event. The Tall Ships Festival is normally held at the Market Street Terminal, this year it is being moved to the Portsmouth Commercial Fishing Pier on Pierce Island near Strawbery Banke Museum. The event will be smaller, but claims to be even more exciting than past years with the new venue and it’s location near the historic museum.

The Parade of Sail is set for Friday May 28, 2010. The parade starts at buoy 2KR and heads towards the commercial fishing pier. The best places to view the Tall Ships Parade is on Newcastle Common, Pierce Island,  Four Tree Island, Prescott Park or on the state pier. The public can launch their boats and join the parade with the Tall Ships. The Portsmouth and Navy Yard fire boats will lead the parade. The Newmarket Militia will fire their welcoming cannon salute with a return fire from the Tall ships.

Ships will not be open for tours on Friday.

During the Tall Ships Festival, the tall ships will be docked in Portsmouth Harbor for a festival organized by the Piscataqua Maritime Commission. The two ships scheduled to arrive in Portsmouth Harbor this year are: The HMS Bounty and the Lynx.
